Texins Golf Club Handicap Policy

Texins Golf Club Handicaps

The golf club follows the USGA method for computing
handicaps. The player's adjusted score, the course rating, and
the course slope are used in the calculation. A players adjusted
score is calculated according to the method described below.
The stroke control is used to minimize the handicap raising effect
of blow-up holes. As few as five (5) scores will be used to establish
an initial handicap. Handicaps and scores will be carried over from
season to season. Handicaps are recalculated before each tournament
played and whenever the handicap chairman gets around to it.
Please send scores to Tom Duke or bring them
to the next club tourney. Include the following information:

Name Date Course Tees Score Adj Score
-------- ------ ---------- -------- ------- ---------

Furthermore, if a score is from a non-local course, perhaps
a vacation trip, double check that the scorecard indicates the
course rating and slope. If the information is not on the card
ask the golf pro what it should be. If the information is not
provided, an average rating of par and slope of 113 will be used.
Please be sure the card is readable whether or not the score
has been adjusted.
All scorecards, from tournament to practice play, should
be submitted to the handicap chairman. If you turn in scorecards
to another club, give the handicap chairman a copy of your scorecards.
If you want to keep your card, send a copy. Submitted cards will
not be returned.
This year estimated handicaps will be allowed for all tournaments
except the intersite qualifier. The executive committee reserves
the right to raise or lower any players estimated handicap.
Adjusted scores are determined using equitable stroke control
(ESC), the USGA method for adjustment of unusually high scores
on any hole. It mandates a maximum score to be taken on any hole
for a player of a given handicap.
For more info USGA ESC Info (see section 4)
