HOW TO
JOIN THE TEXINS FLYING CLUB
There are
several good ways to join the flying club, and your first point of contact
should be our Membership Officer or President (see Flying Club Officers). If you can't reach
either of them call any officer (we love to talk about flying). We will then
see that you receive an introductory packet and membership application. You can
also request an intro packet directly on our Home Page (see New Member Application).
You can always attend one of our board or membership meetings. We hold these
monthly and guests are always welcome. Membership meetings are at the airport
on the second Saturday of each month. The meeting is at 9:30 AM and coffee and
donuts are provided before- hand starting at 8:30 AM. Please feel free to join
us.
The way most new members join is during the private pilot ground school. We
hold these twice a year (spring & fall) and offer it free to students who
join the club. You will want to be a club member if you plan on taking flight
instruction concurrent with your ground instruction (assuming you wish to use
TFC aircraft and instructors for your flight instruction). We widely advertise
the ground school and the first night is informational to help determine if
flying is for you.
Here are the details about joining the Texins
Flying Club:
- Complete
the membership application.
- Attach a check, payable to Texins
Flying Club, in the following amount:
- $140
for a regular member
- $70
if someone in your immediate family is already a member of the Texins Flying Club
- Send your application to Texins
Flying Club, P.O. Box 831311, Richardson, TX 75083-1311 to the Membership VP. (useOfficer link at top of this page.)
- After your application is received you will be assigned a
club membership number.Your membership number will be
communicated to you through the MSG system or through a phone call. Write your club membership number down and be sure to
affix your number on all correspondence with the Texins
Flying Club.
- Call the club’s chief flight
instructor (use Officer link at top of this page) and he will assign you an instructor.
- Around the middle of each month
you will receive a statement from the club for all airplane rental and
instructor charges you incurred for the previous month. This
statement will also include charges for the next month’s
dues, which are currently $35 per month.Your very
first bill will also include a charge for the prorated dues for the month in
which you joined.Make sure you pay the statement in
full each month and always write your TFC membership number in the memo section
on your check.
- If
you decide to quit the club then you must provide written notification in order
to stop accumulation of monthly dues.If you quit and
decide to rejoin at a later time, you will have to pay the initiation fee. This requirement is meant to discourage people from
quitting the club when the weather turns bad and then rejoining when the
weather turns good again.Under some circumstances the
second initiation fee can be waived by petitioning the TFC board. One
instance where the fee may be waived is if TI business moved you away from the
Dallas area then brought you back at a later time.
We
hope to see you soon!
